Peternity - Review and Giveaway

Note: If you read this site through a feed such as bloglines, you may see a post that has now been deleted. I accidentally posted something that belonged on my personal site over here. My apologies!

I took my puppy to the vet for a check-up this evening, and the vet was really depressed because one of the cats they shelter at their facility has been sick. They had hoped she'd get better, and she was about to be adopted.

But, just as Sophie, my puppy, was getting her Lyme vaccine, word came in that they were putting the cat down at the local animal hospital. This is the same hospital that I had to take my beagle Copper to when we lost her, so it brought back a lot of memories for me.

Losing a pet is so very, very hard. That's why I was more than happy to accept an opportunity to review a company that helps honor the memories of our beloved friends after they've passed.

Peternity specializes in pet memorials and gifts and helps you "honor your pet for eternity." From their site:
Pet memorials are the perfect way to honor the memory of your dear pet. Choose from a wide selection of pet grave markers, pet urns, pet keepsake boxes, pet portraits, and much, much more. Our hand selected artisans are busy creating lovely pieces to help you to memorialize your dear friend with elegance and grace. Please take a look inside.

I found their pet grave markers and their pet blankets to be especially beautiful:

The grave markers are laser engraved and are are available in Marble, Genuine River Rock, Cultured River Rock, Cultured Slate, Black Granite and Bluestone. There are dozens of different styles and designs to suit your particular tastes.

I really want one of the pet blankets myself. After we lost Copper, I put her picture up on my laptop as a screensaver, and every night, before I shut down the computer, I would "pet" her and tell her I love her. It helped me so much.

To have a physical thing to touch like that really makes a difference. A soft, cuddly blanket with Copper's photo would be so wonderful to curl up with.

The product I was able to review was a gorgeous glass cube that was etched with a pet's name and photo:

That was another one I would personally love to have to remember my Copper by. It is subtle and classy enough to display on an office desk and you can tell it's a very high-quality product. You really have to see it in person to see how elegant it is.

Peternity is generously offering readers of So a Blonde Walks Into a Review, a $75 gift certificate to use towards anything on their site.

Even if you have not lost a pet, maybe you know someone that has? This would be the perfect way to reach out and show them that you care (it means a lot since so often, pet loss is not acknowledged as much as it should be).

To enter, simply click on over to Peternity and check out their products. Then come back here and leave a comment letting me know what your favorite one is. It's that easy!

If you would like a bonus entry to the contest, simply link to this post and to Peternity, and I will put your name down twice. Or, if you are a non-blogger, you may email 5 of your friends these links and cc me at: ablondeandherblog AT yahoo DOT com and you will get a bonus entry as well. Remember that you must comment here as well to be entered.

Deadline to enter is 11:59 on Tuesday, February 5. Winner will be selected at random using Random.org.

Good luck!

I really like the embroidered blanket idea! I am all for functional items over something that sits on a shelf and what better way than to curl up with a blanket dedicated to your special companion and feel warm and loved? Lovely!

I like the river rock and black granite photo markers.

Unfortunately, I could use these for our poor cats:

Thanks so much, everyone, for entering. I'm having problems having anti-spam codes to show up so I haven't been able to respond anywhere but here.

I just wanted to let you know that my heart goes out to you for your losses. There is a special kindship, I believe, among those of us who have lost pets. It's a pain that I wish none of you had to experience, but I am so glad that you had the time with your pets that you did.

May each of you feel joy when you remember your furry friends. ((((HUGS))))))

I would love the cultured slate for my chihuahua Vinny's grave. I planned on doing something special this spring with a marker and flowers. I miss him so much! :)

I remember when my parents let my sister and I have a pet for the first time. He was a beautiful cat named Winter. When I got married I was going to take him with me, but my husband was in the Air Force and we had to move to Texas. So when I was pregnant I went to visit my Family. I remember seeing him again, he was so excited. He passed away not to long after (we found out it was a heart attack). It broke my heart, because I wanted him to see my first baby. The Engraved Glass Cube is definitely my favorite. Thank you for this opportunity.

My brother was a veterinarian. My husband and I were dating at the time. I was working for my brother and in one of his cages was the most adorable puppy I had ever seen. She was a Basenji/Terrier Mix. Most of her coloring was red, but she had a streak of white on her face and feet.
I asked my brother why she was there. He said to adopt out because a boy was allergic to her!!!!! I said she is mine if Jon says okay. The rest is family history for us. We were engaged and bought a small home to remodel. Jon would be "Kayleigh" in his coat to keep her warm because she always went to the house with us. She was our first child. Kayleigh was extremely smart and we loved her. Then, our sons came along and they loved her. We had her for almost 19 years. It has been two years now since we have lost her. I still cry as I am writing this. Please enter me in your contest. Thanks,Cindi

what a great idea.. i like the blankets.. pets often keep us warm when snuggled next to us on the couch or in bed, so a blanket is so befitting.

great contest.. keep up the great work on your blog!! love it.

I like the grave marker. I held my 15 year old cat in my arms as she passed less than a week ago of old age. I buried her in my back yard, but haven't got the site the way I'd like it. This would be really nice for Tiffany.

I really like the Black Granite Photo Pet Grave Marker. What a nice idea to have a picture that will last forever! We buried our beloved black lab Tank last August and this would be such a nice way to mark his resting place. My husband and I still cry when we talk about him, or go through old photos. He was not just our pet, but a member of our family. Thank you.

What a great site, it is hard losing a pet. My first cat died of leukemia at just a year old, we had her cremated. I would love to get the Wooden Photograph Keepsake Box to put all her pictures in.

I don't know, I have a grave marker and a carved stone, and like them both for different reasons for Tucker.

We just learned in late November, Bronson, our old man dog has lung cancer. We're treating it only from his comfort standpoint, he's just too old and too weak to expect much more from him. Seeing we just put our cat to sleep two days before christmas I wanted for my kids sake, Bronson to survive a bit longer.

What a wonderful give away. It's interesting, sometimes I wonder what we don't miss our animals more than our people, (at least our old people) I lost my grandmother in october, she was very old and very sick, it seemed peaceful. I lost my tucker 1.5 years ago to a heart defect we knew he had when he was 6 months old, he was 4 when he died, it still tears me up.

the carved stone you have pictured above with the pug...that's tasteful and cute. we have a pug who is 16 years old and slowing down quite a bit. he's tough, though, so maybe he has many years left in him! anyway, i think the products are great. i really like the keepsake boxes, as well.

I lost my 14 year old yellow labrador Canine Companions Service dog, Irvette, in July of 2006. My parents lost their "beloved" little Mitsy in February of 2007. Your products seem like a wonderful remembrance for our beloved animals. I am interested in investigating your products.

Peternity has zero customer service. I heard nothing from them for two weeks. I disputed the charge. Peternity promised the stone would be shipped in two days. That was over a week ago. Do not buy from Peternity pet memorials.
